Strategy Analytics: OECD Mobile Voice Price Benchmarking results for May 2013 show a significant shift in mobile prices

BOSTON, July 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The most recent mobile voice price benchmarking results from Strategy Analytics shows that there have been a number of major price changes for mobile voice services in the OECD countries over the last quarter.

A number of operators have changed their range of tariffs and prices since the last review in February 2013, resulting in price reductions in many countries, but also apparent price increases in some countries. Most reductions appear where new tariff plans have been added or have replaced old plans, and price falls of 30 percent and above have been noted from some operators.

However, in some cases operators have also discontinued low price or discounted tariff plans, resulting in an apparent price increase even though actual prices on remaining plans have not changed.

The graph below shows the average magnitude of price change across the 68 operators covered for the last three quarterly periods, for low usage tariffs and high usage tariffs.

The OECD Mobile Voice Price Benchmarking service is provided by the Teligen division of Strategy Analytics, and offers an on-going insight into the price developments and relationships for mobile services in the OECD countries.
