Stratford University promotes Dr. James J. Flaggert to Chief Academic Officer
FALLS CHURCH, Va., May 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Stratford University is pleased to announce the promotion of Dr. James J. Flaggert to Chief Academic Officer.
Flaggert began his career at Stratford University in May 2006 serving as the Dean for the School of Business, Graduate, and Online programs. He was elevated to the role Chief Operating Officer in 2009, helping Stratford expand by opening additional campuses, and implementing operational efficiencies and administrative capabilities. With the education landscape in proprietary universities experiencing rapid change, the President of Stratford University, Dr. Richard R. Shurtz, a physicist by training, recognized that Stratford needed the dedicated support of a veteran educational professional to meet the myriad of new challenges to education in the upcoming decade.
"Dr. Flaggert's Doctorate in Public Administration from the University of Southern California, Master of Education from the University of Oklahoma, and liberal arts bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University coupled with his hands-on experience in workforce development, proprietary educational university administration, business acumen, and accreditation knowledge make him the ideal candidate for the Chief Academic Officer position," stated Shurtz.
Thus, with the University Board's full concurrence, Shurtz promoted Flaggert to the Chief Academic Officer position.
"I look forward to working with the deans, department chairs, and faculty to meet the challenges of exceeding accreditation standards, developing robust new programs, improving existing programs, and ensuring student academic success and employment opportunities. I am confident my leadership skills and experience will allow me to implement President Dr. Shurtz and the University Board's vision of Stratford University," stated Flaggert.
Flaggert currently resides in Ashburn, Va.
