-- Enrollments Still Being Accepted for Grades 9-12 --
SAN JOAQUIN, Calif., Aug. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- High school students who have struggled to find success in a traditional school setting can take advantage of a new public school option to get back on track. But on September 1, these students only have to take a few steps from the breakfast table to their computers at home to log in for their first day of school and get a fresh start through Insight School of California—San Joaquin. The new full-time, online public charter high school opened for enrollment in June this year and is still accepting applications for enrollment for grades 9-12.
Within Insight School of California—San Joaquin, experienced California-credentialed teachers and professional school counselors first assess where students are academically deficient, then work closely with them and their parents to create individualized learning plans that map to each student's unique academic needs, personal interests and college and career goals.
As part of a holistic approach to each student's success, Insight School of California—San Joaquin also offers a Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) program. The SEL program ensures students are ready to learn by increasing their self-confidence, resilience and interpersonal skills, and is an important part of learning. During the school year, students will also meet in online advisory sessions twice a week to discuss topics that are relevant to their lives. The goal is to build confidence, create a sense of belonging, and equip students with skills to make responsible decisions.
"There are a number of reasons why students may be struggling," explained Katrina Abston, Senior Head of Schools for Insight Schools of California. "They may feel unsafe at school, have learning issues, are turned off by school or missed one too many school days. With dedication from both students and parents and individualized plans through Insight that address their unique circumstances, the first day of school is the first step down the path to a high school diploma."
As a California public school, Insight School of California—San Joaquin is tuition-free, and offers the award-winning curriculum provided by K12— the leader in K–12 online learning—which meets or exceeds state standards with core and credit recovery courses. The online learning platform uses animations, games, video and effective page layout to engage students and help them master each subject. Insight School of California—San Joaquin also offers school clubs and in-person activities such as field trips and graduation.
Insight School of California—San Joaquin is still enrolling for the 2015-2016 school year. Families are invited to learn more by signing up for an upcoming in-person or online information session at http://ca.insightschools.net, or by calling 800-670-5391.
