LONDON, February 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
World's largest secondary ticket marketplace teams up with English rugby's most successful club
Tigers' fans will be able to buy and sell tickets securely
StubHub, the world's largest secondary ticketing marketplace and part of the eBay Inc. family today announced its latest UK sporting partnership with record-breaking Leicester Tigers. The deal takes effect immediately and continues through to the end of the 2015/16 season.
The Leicester Tigers are the best-supported and most successful club in English Rugby history with a record nine English league titles and appearances in eight successive Premiership finals since 2005. They won the Heineken Cup in 2001 and 2002, becoming the first team to win successive European titles.
Aside from the rights to manage the Club's official ticket exchange, the deal also gives StubHub pitch-side marketing, a presence on the club website and other marketing channels including social media and CRM channels, access to VIP experiences and a number of promotional player appearances. This will be the fifth high profile sporting partnership signed by StubHub since its UK launch in March 2012 and will allow season ticket holders to list tickets for home games and sell to other fans - with no price floors or caps.
Nick Harford, Director of Partnerships, International for StubHub said:
"We are delighted to be partnering with Leicester Tigers and look forward to working together to offer fans access to some of the most exciting games in Premiership and Heineken Cup rugby. As with all our partnerships we aim to offer fans a best in class service where they can buy and sell tickets safely and securely and help support their Club by keeping the stadium full."
Simon Cohen, CEO of Leicester Tigers added:
"StubHub's superior technological platform, its relentless focus on the fan and its track record for quality customer service made it the obvious choice for us. Our fans are at the heart of everything we do as a Club and we know that StubHub will take good care of them."
About StubHub
StubHub is a ticket marketplace that connects buyers to sellers, however, unlike current UK competitors, the company does not buy or sell tickets itself or charge fans additional booking fees at the point of purchase - a first for the industry.
StubHub, which launched in the US in 2000, consistently holds the highest customer satisfaction ratings in the entire ticketing industry, and boasts one of the highest scores in all of e-commerce. Every purchase made through the site is backed by StubHub's FanProtect™ Guarantee, which guards against fraud and ensures that buyers get what they pay for.
StubHub offers a full suite of mobile applications, and opened the first-ever central London retail outlet for fans to buy, pick up or drop off their tickets on Great Portland Street last year. Additional pop-up locations are also planned across the country. These will be conveniently located close to major venues, meaning fans will never have to worry about getting in at the last minute.
The company also has a Dublin-based call centre, open from 09:00 - 21:00, seven days a week, to handle any and all customer queries (0800.358.8585).
