Studio LLC Develops Facebook Application Using Smartphones As Controller

HOBOKEN, N.J., Feb. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Studio LLC (www.whoisstudio.com) a leading advertising production agency, has just developed and released a one of a kind Facebook application that allows users to use their iOS device or Android device to control a Facebook application.

To showcase the technology, Studio created a Facebook game around their annual holiday party. Invitees, including Studio clients were sent a link to the Facebook game. When they allowed the Holiday Application, they were asked if they wanted to play the Studio Holiday game. After saying yes, they were prompted to scan a QR code with their smartphone and were taken to a mobile website that connected their device to the onscreen Facebook application. Once the two devices were paired users could start throwing snowballs at all the avatars of the Studio LLC staff for 30 seconds. Once you finished you could RSVP to the party.

"We were looking for a fun way to promote our holiday party and ended up developing some really cool technology," said Liz Young, President and Creative Director of Studio LLC. "The first application was obviously done in fun, but we can see brands and ad agencies using this technology to create their own Facebook applications, as well as unique apps that may be used with smart walls, for example."

As the market penetration increases for smartphones, the technology developed by Studio can be used for any individual to use their iPhone or Android device to control other web apps or other applications on PCs. The technology is unique because it essentially replaces a mouse with an iPhone or Android device, a device that is frequently carried by consumers. While the mouse is limited by the number of buttons and the track ball, the blank screen of a smartphone is essentially limitless allowing for much more complicated gestures and play with applications.
