DUBLIN, Sept. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Research and Markets has announced the addition of the "Study Report on Rumiant Feed Supply and Demand in China" report to their offering.
In recent years, along with the rapid development of domestic ruminant breeding, especially dairy cattle breeding, alfalfa hay has become rigid demand of herbivorous livestock. In view of low domestic alfalfa yield and quality, alfalfa supply gap is large, and alfalfa products dependence on foreign trade gradually increases, resulting in exponential growth of alfalfa import in recent years. As domestic alfalfa production level is still low, high-quality alfalfa imports will remain at a high level in the next five years.
China's straw annual production reached over 700 million tons, but only 300 million tons of feed utilization accounts for 45% of the total output, domestic straw resources are mainly rice straw, corn stalks and wheat straw, with total outputs of 210 million tons, 209 million tons and 110 million tons respectively, of which the majority does not go through feed technical processing, so the energy and nutrients provided by straw to animal husbandry is very limited. The 12th Five-Year Plan on Feed Industry encourages raising livestock by using straw, improving the conditions for straw storage equipment and facilities, promoting silage, ammoniated, microbial silage and other processing technologies, cultivating crop stalks commercialized disposal and utilization mode, and improving the straw feed amount and feed efficiency.
In 2005-2012, China had high intensive level of dairy cattle farming, while beef cattle and meat sheep were bred in free-range farming and smaller scale. Therefore, dairy cattle industrial feed output is large, accounting for 90% of the total ruminant industrial feed output. Since 2010, national support of beef cattle and meat sheep breeding, coupled with residents' dietary structural adjustment, has boosted the demand for beef and mutton, and continuously increased beef cattle and meat sheep industry scale. Therefore, the dairy cattle industrial feed demand has relatively stable growth space in the future, while beef cattle and mutton sheep industry feed demand has greater room for growth.
Based on the status quo of China's ruminant industry, combined with the characteristics of the domestic ruminant feed resources, this report makes in-depth analysis of the supply and demand of ruminant feed, and seeks to answer the following questions concerned by industry insiders, and help readers better explore investment opportunities and business growth points in Chinese ruminant feed market.
