"Stuff" Vintage-Modern Collective Hosts Eclectic Mix of Valencia Street Events
SAN FRANCISCO, July 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- "Stuff," the new Vintage Antique & Modern furniture collective in San Francisco, continues to delight the Valencia street neighborhood with their inventive mix of community events.
Beginning Saturday, July 23, Stuff is hosting "Movie Night" in their parking lot featuring two-screen blacktop technology by KrOB and showing feature film "Vanishing Point". The show starts at 9:30pm, with a 30 min. video collage reel called eyenoise before the feature starts at 10pm. The event is free of charge, open to the public and BYOB (beverages, blankets, butt-rests) but Stuff is providing hot popcorn for snacks. "Movie Night" will be held the 4th Saturday of every month through October 2011.
Staying true to their word to make Stuff "not your Grandmother's Antique store," owners Will Lenker and James Spinello are bringing the community fun, hip events. "We envision Stuff to be a meeting place of sorts for the Mission neighborhood," says Lenker. "We want it to be not only a great vintage shop but also host fun events for people in a weak economy to be able to come and enjoy themselves for no charge." Hot on the heels of "Movie Night" comes "Stuff the Streets," an art fair featuring 20+ artists selling and displaying their work with additional entertainment from neighborhood DJs, musicians, and spoken word performers. "Our idea was to create an event that celebrates local creative culture from artists, craftspeople, and artisans who may not have had previous opportunities or access to display elsewhere," says Spinello. The event was created to not only allow local creatives a chance to sell and display their work for free (there's no charge to participate) in Stuff's parking lot, but also to provide a cultural event to the community in the Mission. "Stuff the Streets" happens Sunday, August 7th from 12-6pm.
For bargain hunters and vintage furniture lovers alike, a must-go is Stuff's parking lot flea market held every 3rd Sunday of the month from 9am - 4pm. Treasures abound and a mix of items new, old, modern & traditional can be found at priced-to-sell deals. There is no charge to attend and the next flea market will be held on August 21, 2011.
