Successful in Business, Philadelphia Psychologist Counsels from Experience Through Executive Outreach
PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/-- Entrepreneur and cognitive-behavioral psychologist Dr. Brigette Erwin counsels from personal experience in advising executives how to maximize their personal and career potential and improve bottom-line outcomes for their organizations.
Executive training and coaching is provided through her recently established Dr. Erwin Consulting, which grew naturally from increasing business referrals. That service is now an arm of the Anxiety and OCD Center of suburban Malvern, Pa., which she founded 10 years ago. A staunch believer in business modeling, Dr. Erwin has grown the Center on that basis into one of the largest specialized practices of its kind in the Philadelphia area.
"More than a practice," she says, "it's a treatment, assessment and training clinic."
Though little used in psychological practices, the evidence-based treatment she employs has proved highly effective over time in overcoming moderate to severe anxiety and related disorders.
"The simple thing that differentiates my practice is the consistent use of evidence-based treatment backed by scientific research," Dr. Erwin says. Based on the same approach, executive training "is short term, strategy-based and goal oriented, just as we want the executive to be," she says.
A high standard of care is crucial for client and business wellbeing. Newly hired clinicians are trained in evidence-based treatment and "have at least one year of intensive supervision with me before they go on to more independent treatment responsibilities," she says.
Many of Dr. Erwin's approaches to client wellbeing, employee care and business philosophy are rooted in lessons learned and remembered from her 10-year apprenticeship working for others in less effective business models. That taught her the importance of understanding and meeting the needs of clients, employees, and the community, i.e., the market. She notes:
"The only way to survive was to build my own referral base, develop my own client relationships, and take care of my clients. I also learned the importance to a healthy business of nurturing employees. I want those who work for me to excel, and I help them do that."
With her traditional client base strong and growing, she launched Dr. Erwin Consulting with deliberation and adherence to two golden rules: "Deliver the strengths of your business to the community you serve, and grow only as quickly as you can sustain the business model."
