Sugon Launches Two New Products At ISC2016 to Fully Display "Core of Application"

FRANKFURT, Germany, June 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- From June 19 to 23, 147 famous exhibitors, over 400 speakers and over 3,000 professionals in the field of high performance computing are participating in the 31st International Supercomputing Conference (ISC 2016), held in Frankfurt, Germany. Sugon launches two new server products

With the theme of "innovation returns to original intention, application recreates value," today Sugon and Intel jointly released the first high density converged architecture server product facing cloud computing, the Galaxias SDC1000. The server faces typical application demands of cloud computing, adopts an elastic, heterogeneous and simplified as needed design concept that has the characteristics of software-defined architecture, modular design, high density, high scalability, high performance/watt, high performance/cost and so on, and is a converged architecture landmark server product after rack-mounted servers and blade servers.

According to Nie Hua, senior vice president of Sugon, the Galaxias SDC1000 server integrates 32 Intel Xeon D processors with FPGA-based accelerators, DDR4/3 memory, 10/40/100G Ethernet, NVMe/SATA/SAS drives, and virtualization PCIe I/O devices in a high density 4U standard chassis. A 3D-Torus system area network based on high performance and high scalability achieves the elasticity, efficiency and demand-based simplicity of the system through software-defined mode. The Galaxias SDC1000 directly inherits the application environments of traditional servers. Applications such as Hadoop and Spark, in addition to resources scheduling software and server administration tools can be ported to SDC1000 without modification. Its performance/watt and integrated service capacity are improved by ten times than that of a traditional server, so the product is a converged architecture server with low cost, low power, high density and high performance.

It's worth mentioning that the Galaxias SDC1000 is a new generation server jointly developed by Sugon and some famous colleges, research institutes and chip and semiconductor device manufactures at home and abroad under the support of the National High-Tech Research and Development Plan of China (863 Program). Centering on the Galaxias SDC1000, the industrial-academic-research-application ecological chain is forming in China to cooperate with CETV, China Telecom and China Unionpay to conduct demonstration applications. Multi-Hosted Multi-Processors (M-Pro), another product of "application as core" designed and developed by Sugon, was also jointly released and launched by Sugon and Mellanox at ISC2016. The new server product adopts "M-Pro architecture" based on Multi-Host technology, so as to improve servers' capabilities in solving various requirements of high performance computing.

Dr. Dai Rong, chief engineer of the high performance computing product business division of Sugon, said that "M-Pro architecture" design servers with achieve practical application performance, better price performance and stronger compatibility by adopting the Intel Xeon E3-1200 v5 series processor of the latest Skylake architecture and advanced Multi-Host shared network technology and existing high density blade technology of Sugon. Designed for the practical application of customers, M-Pro architecture server has remarkable advantages of higher actual application performance with the same theoretical peak performance and better actual application performance at the same investment. According to benchmarks, M-Pro architecture servers significantly improved application performance compared with ordinary 2-way servers. For example, some computational chemistry, materials science and weather forecast applications showed nearly 150% performance improvement.
