Sullivan's Steakhouse Donates $100,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure®
Sullivan's makes a 'steak' in the fight against breast cancer with 'Palate in the Pink'
SOUTHLAKE, Texas, Dec. 15, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- As a result of its second annual "Palate in the Pink" national fundraiser, Sullivan's Steakhouse proudly presented a donation of $100,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure® to support the fight against breast cancer. Throughout the month of October, Sullivan's 20 locations offered guests a special "Palate in the Pink" menu, which featured a three-course meal for $39.95. The famous steakhouse donated $5 from each meal sold directly to Komen for the Cure to help fund ground-breaking research and life-saving community outreach programs, including education, screening and treatment.
This year's "Palate in the Pink" program surpassed the company's $50,000 fundraising goal. Since 2009, Sullivan's has raised $270,000 to help further the Komen promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever.
"Our entire team is committed to our philanthropic efforts including Susan G. Komen for the Cure," said Mark S. Mednansky, CEO of Del Frisco's Restaurant Group. "We're thrilled to champion a worthwhile cause, and we could not successfully do so without the energy and excitement of our staff and the generosity of our guests who have dined with us to make a significant impact on the women, men, and families affected by this disease."
Komen funds research focused on decreasing breast cancer incidence and mortality in the next decade. To date, Komen has invested more than $1.5 billion in breast cancer research and community programs, making Susan G. Komen for the Cure the world's largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer.
"When a woman dies of breast cancer every 69 seconds, it's imperative that we fund critical research, spread awareness and educate women about breast health and breast cancer," said Margo K. Lucero, vice president, business development & partnerships for Komen. "We're grateful for the commitment and support Sullivan's has shown our organization. They have truly become part of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure family."
This donation is just one example of the dedication and charitable commitment of both Sullivan's Steakhouse and its parent company, Del Frisco's Restaurant Group, to the communities they serve. According to Mednansky, each restaurant is deeply involved with local community groups and non-profit organizations. The restaurant group's dedication to Susan G. Komen for the Cure and other causes will continue to grow in coming years.
