Sunday, January 5th SmartSource Magazine To Have Record-Breaking Coupon Count Blockbuster Issue Promises Unprecedented Savings for Second Year
NEW YORK, Jan. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- For the second year in a row, SmartSource, the premier coupon distributor in North America, is starting the new year with a company record-breaking number of coupons delivered on a single date. News America Marketing (NAM) today announced that their Sunday, January 5th, 2014 issue of the SmartSource Magazine coupon insert will be the largest in company history, eclipsing even last year's massive delivery. Up to three inserts will be required in many markets in order to deliver up to 136 pages of coupons, representing an unprecedented quantity and array of savings.

Consumers in many areas will find up to $100 in savings on the top supermarket brands they use every day. Every market can expect to see a larger number of coupons than they see in their usual weekly insert, with variations from publication to publication based on brand participation. One of the additional coupon inserts in many markets will be the "New Year, New You" themed insert that contains savings on many healthy living and wellness-related items. In addition to the extra coupons in this insert, there is also a sweepstakes that will have ten grand-prize winners, each of whom will receive a spa day worth approximately $350.
Even with much being written recently about digital couponing trends, coupons from Free-Standing Inserts (FSI's) continue to dominate all other forms of distribution, accounting for 88.8% of all coupons distributed in 2012.1
Taking into consideration the number of newspapers and publications which will be carrying this issue of SmartSource Magazine, combined with the incredible page count of the issue, there will be over 5.7 billion pages of coupons distributed by SmartSource on January 5th, up from 5.3 billion on the same Sunday last year. The Dallas Morning News will have the most coupons of any publication with a total of 136 pages and an estimated value of $197. The Philadelphia Inquirer, Houston Chronicle, Phoenix Republic, Chicago Tribune and Los Angeles Times will each have over 125 pages of coupons.
