Sunovia Names Patricia C. Meringer Chairman of the Board
Scaled Expansion of LED Lighting Planned
SARASOTA, Fla., Feb. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Sunovia™ Energy Technologies, Inc. (OTC BB: SUNV), a clean-tech company, announced today changes to its board of directors.
Meringer Named Chairman of the Board of Directors
The Board of Directors of Sunovia has elected Patricia C. Meringer as the Chairman of the Board to fill a vacancy on the board.
Meringer will lead the Company's efforts in building and diversifying its board of directors, implementing governance best practices and positioning the Company's board and executive management for anticipated growth in the LED lighting business.

While serving as Corporate Counsel and Secretary of Hibernia Corporation, a NYSE-traded public bank holding company (now a part of CapitalOne), Meringer created a charter for the company's newly-formed corporate governance committee and advised the board on implementing its goals for diversity, board training and orientation, board compensation and incentives and succession management. At the same time, she was a team leader for a company-wide process mapping and improvement project aimed at improving operating efficiencies throughout the system.

Meringer, who joined Sunovia as corporate counsel in October 2010, serves as the Company's General Counsel and Secretary. She has over 25 years of experience in corporate finance and commercial transactions, both in private practice and as in-house counsel. She practiced law in New Orleans for over 15 years, as an attorney in the corporate and securities practice of a large firm and then as Senior Corporate Counsel and Secretary of Hibernia. She has focused her legal career on corporate and business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, public and private securities transactions, and purchases and sales of stock and assets, as well as corporate governance. She has achieved an AV-Preeminent® rating from Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest rating available to attorneys in the peer-review rating system.
Meringer is active in the Sarasota community, having served on the boards of several nonprofit companies and providing pro bono legal services to nonprofit companies and their management. In 2010, she was awarded the Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award for her service to Legal Aid of Manasota's Corporate Counsel Project. In 2011, she was named a Top Lawyer by Biz941 magazine.
Meringer is a graduate of Indiana State University (B.A., magna cum laude) and Tulane Law School (magna cum laude and Order of the Coif), where she served as an editor of the Tulane Law Review.
