DALLAS, Sept. 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In the midst of increasing global concerns over water contamination and scarcity, SunToWater Technologies, LLC, announced today it's beginning to accept priority reservations for its award-winning solar-powered Water Generator, which can make water anywhere in the world – even in extremely dry climates and polluted air.
According to the World Economic Forum, more than one billion people lack access to clean drinking water, which leads to chronic illness, crop loss, hunger, and poverty. In 2015, it named the water crisis the number one global risk, outranking infectious diseases, weapons of mass destruction, and terrorism.
A 2016 Gallup Poll revealed that 61 percent of Americans express "a great deal" of concern about polluted drinking water and 56 percent are greatly concerned about the pollution of rivers, lakes and reservoirs.
In response to the growing water fears, SunToWater is bringing to market two new appliances called Water Generators, capable of creating large volumes of fresh drinking water from the air.
To address both the residential and commercial markets, SunToWater is launching two Water Generators:
- Residential Water Generator that can make 40-100 gallons of fresh drinking water per day, which is enough emergency water for a family of four for 10 years or enough water for partial or complete lawn care, landscaping and every day household use.
- Commercial Water Generator capable of producing up to 4000 gallons per day, supporting for example, rural communities with limited or complete lack of a municipal water supply, as well as manufacturing, agriculture and golf courses.
Water Generators are modular, fully scalable and can be stacked or connected side-by-side to increase water production. The company is presently taking reservations at (877) 913-3189 for both the residential and commercial units and anticipates manufacturing to commence in 2017.
"We believe everyone has the right to clean, fresh water," said Benjamin Blumenthal, Co-Founder and CEO of SunToWater. "We've taken the lead on the challenge to find a revolutionary, cost effective, sustainable water solution by creating state-of-the-art Water Generators – appliances that can provide an independent water source for commercial, residential, and government use."
"Our best-of-breed innovation and green practices provide consumers and businesses with a solution to protect against rising water prices, increasing water scarcity that threatens local supply (e.g. California, Texas), and Growing Water Contamination disasters (e.g. Flint, MI) that threaten human resources and opportunities for corporate growth and expansion," Blumenthal added. "Of course, an independent water supply also mitigates risks associated with possible terror attacks and acts of war."
SunToWater's patented method of generating water uses a three-stage process to create a dependable source of drinking water that is cost-effective and environmentally safe. The process begins with a unit that is about the size of an air conditioner, positioned outside of a building or on its roof.
Once activated, small, efficient fans blow air over a natural salt-based element that absorbs water molecules from the air. Solar heat then bakes the liquid out of the salt, and the humid air is then condensed and collected into a storage tank and remineralized and exposed to ultraviolet light to eliminate any bacteria. The result is clean, fresh water that is certified for consumption by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Unlike other refrigerant-based products, SunToWater's Water Generators operate in extremely arid or desert environments (i.e. Sahara Desert, central Africa) or high polluted conditions (i.e. Shanghai, Beijing, Mexico City), which carries significant value for international corporation and military applications (i.e. troop replenishment, embassy security, base installation resource management, humanitarian assistance, disaster response, etc.).
The Water Generator technology has already secured 13 patents and uses 70 percent less power than traditional refrigerant-based equipment. Residential units will retail for $9,000 and is expected to produce water for over a 10-year period; the cost is about $0.08 to $0.12 per gallon, four to five times less expensive than refrigerant-based technologies.
"Just as solar panels can get homes off the power grid, Water Generators can get homes off the water grid. For home and business owners that are worried about the availability and quality of their water, this new home appliance offers a real and cost-effective solution. And best of all, the process is totally natural and comes from the 12.9 trillion tons of water that exists in the atmosphere," said Blumenthal.
SunToWater's technology won First Place in the 2015 Impact Challenge run by Singularity University. The competition brought dozens of companies from around the world to present best-of-breed solutions for the California water crisis, and SunToWater Generators were voted as the leading solution. Additionally, the company earned First Place in the Silicon Valley Founder Showcase, a competition for best start-up technology emerging out of Silicon Valley.
SunToWater is washing away the water crisis with revolutionary and award-winning technology that creates clean, drinkable water out of air using nothing but salt and solar power. Leveraging a patented process that blows ordinary air over a proprietary salt mixture, a single residential Water Generator can create between 40 and 100 gallons of pure distilled water every day, even in the driest, most polluted climates. Commercial units produce up to 4,000 gallons per day. To learn more, visit http://SunToWater.com or call (877) 913-3189.
