PALO ALTO, Calif., Dec. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- SurveyMonkey, the world's leading online survey platform, today announced Jon Cohen, VP of research at Pew Research Center, will be joining SurveyMonkey as the company's vice president of survey research, beginning January 6, 2014.
Cohen will focus on ensuring that surveys conducted on SurveyMonkey are created, distributed and analyzed using the highest standards. Continuing SurveyMonkey's tradition of making sophisticated research fast, simple and scalable, he will help guide the company's strategic direction and work with the SurveyMonkey team to build new products beyond the current core services. This will include expanding on previous successful SurveyMonkey polling efforts, such as the company's predictions of the 2012 U.S. presidential and 2013 gubernatorial elections.
"We're excited to have Jon on board, especially as research and data analytics continue to rapidly evolve," said Dave Goldberg, SurveyMonkey CEO. "His success in the field will undoubtedly extend SurveyMonkey's industry expertise and expand the ways we help customers make better, data-driven decisions."
One of the country's leading pollsters for more than ten years, Cohen has a superior reputation in election polling and has delivered a long series of high-impact, non-partisan polls. He is also a top expert in survey data management, a central component in "big data" analytics and other emerging approaches in research.
Prior to working at Pew, Cohen led The Washington Post's polling operation through two presidential campaigns and four congressional cycles, as well as numerous gubernatorial and mayoral elections. Previously, he was a polling expert at ABC News and the Public Policy Institute of California.
"Joining the SurveyMonkey team is a tremendous opportunity I couldn't pass up," said Cohen. "The unmatched scale of the SurveyMonkey platform offers a unique way for researchers to gather feedback from real people beyond traditional methods, and for people to get real answers to do real, meaningful analysis."
