Sutherland Asbill & Brennan's Daniel Johnson Named Among Houston's Top Business Professionals
HOUSTON, March 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Houston office of Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP is proud to announce that firm partner Daniel Johnson is a member of the Houston Business Journal's 2012 class of "40 Under 40," an annual listing of the top young business professionals in the nation's fourth-largest city.
The Houston Business Journal honor recognizes "40 young leaders who excel in their industries, are respected business leaders and show dynamic leadership in their community."
Mr. Johnson is a partner in the Houston office of Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP. He maintains a national litigation practice representing clients in matters involving oil and gas exploration activities and the London energy insurance market. Mr. Johnson is a member of the Sutherland team currently representing Transocean in litigation surrounding the BP oil spill. He assists clients in untangling complex energy related disputes arising out of natural disasters and catastrophic events.
Accolades aren't new to Mr. Johnson, who was valedictorian of his class at South Texas College of Law. He obtained and served clerkships for two federal judges – the Hon. John D. Rainey and Hon. Gray H. Miller, both of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Mr. Johnson also has been recognized as a leading insurance coverage dispute lawyer by Chambers USA.
Mr. Johnson has still taken the time to be a court-appointed attorney ad litem for a disabled minor and the court-appointed pro bono counsel in a federal civil rights case.
Sutherland opened its Houston office with a single attorney in 2002 and since has grown to include more than 35 full-time attorneys and a substantial long-term contract attorney team. In Houston, Sutherland primarily serves the energy industry in litigation, transactional, regulatory, and environmental matters.
