Sutherland Partner Juan Garcia Elected Hispanic Bar Association of Houston President-Elect
HOUSTON, June 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Litigation partner Juan Garcia of Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP recently was elected by the Board of Directors of the Hispanic Bar Association of Houston (HisBA) as the organization's 2013-14 President-Elect, effective Aug. 1, 2013.
Mr. Garcia, a partner in Sutherland's Litigation Practice Group, currently serves as HisBA Vice President, and he will succeed Nelsy Gomez as President in 2014-15. The non-profit HisBA works for the advancement of Hispanics in the legal profession.

Mr. Garcia represents clients in high-stakes litigation, business torts, product liability, commercial disputes, and personal injury defense matters. His litigation expertise also includes representing various energy companies, both as plaintiffs and defendants, in matters involving millions of dollars at stake.
A summa cum laude graduate of South Texas College of Law, Mr. Garcia has been recognized on the Texas Super Lawyers – Rising Stars list of the best young lawyers in Texas. In addition to his work with the HisBA, he currently serves as Senior Vice Chairman of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo's Go Tejano Committee, and a member of the Show's Legal Advisory Committee.
Other new HisBA officers are: Nelsy Gomez of Cozen O'Connor, President; Angela Garcia of the Garcia Law Office, Vice President; Edgar Saldivar of BoyarMiller, Treasurer; and Marisa V. Bullock of the Law Office of Marisa V. Bullock, Secretary. HisBA's immediate past president is Daniel Ramirez of Monty & Ramirez.
