HOUSTON, June 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- On May 24, 2012, a Houston jury in federal district court returned a unanimous verdict that Sutton McAughan Deaver 's client Upper Deck does not infringe U.S. Patent No. Re. 38,044 (the '044 Patent) owned by Legends Inc. covering a "Method for Deterring Forgeries and Authenticating Signatures." Legends filed suit claiming that Upper Deck willfully infringed the '044 Patent and sought $4,000,000 in damages and additional punitive damages.  After a three-day trial, the jury returned its unanimous verdict that Upper Deck's authenticity certification process did not infringe the '044 Patent.
