INDIANAPOLIS, Jan. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Endangered Species Chocolate (ESC) is extending its current 3 ounce natural bar line with the addition of its new dark chocolate sea salt and almond bar and dark chocolate with cherry bar.  These two flavors bring the total of the current and most popular natural bar line to 14 different flavors. Both bars contain seventy-two percent cocoa content and are certified gluten-free, kosher and vegan.

The new bars were developed from feedback gathered during consumer focus groups, an online survey and after researching current trends in the industry. For the sea salt and almond bar, ESC partnered with Redmond's Trading Company's Real Salt, a natural salt brand. This is the company's first supplier partnership.

"Significant time and research was put into our new bar development", says Kelly Meinken, Director of Marketing for Endangered Species Chocolate.  "We chose the final two new flavors in an effort to expand our natural product line and to ultimately compete with current trends.  We are privileged to partner with Redmond's on the dark chocolate with sea salt and almond bar."

While the company was finalizing development of the new flavors it held a month-long contest on their website this past summer for its consumers to help select labels for the new bars.  The consumers were given the option of nine different animals they could choose from to be featured on the new bars. After voting was completed, the animals consumers selected for the new labels where a puffin and owl.

"In developing the labels for these new bars, we wanted to get the ESC consumer involved," says Nick Lee, Creative Director for Endangered Species Chocolate."  We sent out a survey asking everyone to vote on which endangered species they would like to see highlighted and we had a great amount of feedback that led to our new owl and puffin bars!"

The bars will be available at natural food stores, conventional supermarkets and on the company's website.  For more information or to place an order of the new bars visit www.chocolatebar.com.
