In addition to HANDY sponsored dinners in Broward County, the organization mobilized local businesses to play an active role in their efforts. With the help of a vibrant and caring community, HANDY was able to distribute 200 Thanksgiving baskets to families most in need.
Thanksgiving is about enjoying a special family meal and thanks to HANDY's dedicated board of directors, tireless staff and generous volunteers, deserving families across Broward County have a reason to be thankful this holiday season. HANDY is committed to supporting all of the youth it serves, as it has since the organization formed in 1985.
HANDY (Helping Abused Neglected Disadvantaged Youth) has a mission to embrace, educate, and empower vulnerable youth to become engaged and productive adults. Founded in 1985, HANDY has met the needs of more than 50,000 Broward County children and youth in foster, relative and non- relative care. HANDY annually serves more than 1,300 at-risk children between the ages of 9 - 25. HANDY is headquartered at the Lillian S. Wells Center at 501 NE 8th Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304.
