Take Better Holiday Inspired Newborn Photos

"If you're looking to incorporate holiday props into your photos, the most important tip is always putting safety first.  Always ensure your newborn baby or child is in a safe environment and position, with no harmful props, ornaments or other holiday knick knacks that could potentially pose a dangerous situation," said Blakeley.

The duo offers up these Top 5 useful tips to take better holiday inspired photos:

1. Light - Since young babies are unable to sit up, taking a picture of them lying on their backs will be your go-to option. Make sure the light is flowing from the side of your baby or child's face (or slightly above) where your baby is laying.   You'll get a more flattering less creepy holiday picture, otherwise known as "scary Halloween face".  (Think back to when you were a kid, telling a scary story holding a flashlight pointed up to your face).  Having a light shine up at a baby's face will make any angel look scary.
   
   
2. Christmas Lights - It may sound obvious, but NEVER wrap your baby or child in Christmas lights, as it could cause an electrocution, and also poses as a strangling hazard.  While using Christmas lights in a picture, they should always be a safe distance away from the baby. As well, most light strands contain lead paint, and usually a baby will go to put whatever is in their hands in their mouth.
   
   
3. Christmas Stockings - NEVER ever attempt to hang your baby or child in a stocking, or in anything for that matter.
   
   
4. Glass Bowl, candles and other props - Never place your baby or child in a Holiday themed glass bowl, or near candles, or holding glass ornaments.  Posing your baby or child safe on the ground with a plush toy away from everything breakable is ideal.
   
   
5. Bow - Feel free to use a Holiday bow on your baby's head, but don't use it as a "hoo hoo" cover up.  It's not flattering to a baby or child contrary to popular belief.
