TASC Joins Virginia Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Center's Board of Advisors
CHANTILLY, Va., May 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The community of practice leader of Enterprise Modeling and Simulation at TASC, Stephen Parker , Ph.D., has been elected to the Virginia Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Center's (VMASC) Industry Board of Advisors. VMASC, a leading university-based research center for computer modeling, simulation and visualization, provides research and development support and expertise to government agencies and industry.
"For today's complex systems, advanced modeling and simulation capabilities are essential, particularly in an environment that demands we get it right the first time," says Parker. "In this time of tightening budgets, the use of modeling and simulation will allow the government to conceive and test ideas in a virtual environment before committing major expenditures to a development program."
The work covers domains such as complex networks, cybersecurity, healthcare, C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance), finance and independent verification and validation. Key modeling and simulation areas for research and development include:
- War games, scenario design, experimentation and execution
- Constructive simulation development
- Human performance modeling
- Serious games development.
Modeling and simulation has been at the core of TASC's capabilities portfolio since its founding in 1966. Earliest programs include the Trident Submarine, Minuteman Missile and the Space Shuttle. Today, a large portion of TASC's modeling and simulation projects and research investments are geared toward improving models in networks, sensor platforms, human behavior and decision support.
Founded in 1966, TASC, Inc., helps solve complex national security and public safety challenges by providing advanced systems engineering, integration and decision-support services to the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense and civilian agencies of the federal government. With about 5,000 employees in 40 locations, TASC generates more than $1.5 billion in annual revenue.
