"For today's complex systems, advanced modeling and simulation capabilities are essential, particularly in an environment that demands we get it right the first time," says Parker. "In this time of tightening budgets, the use of modeling and simulation will allow the government to conceive and test ideas in a virtual environment before committing major expenditures to a development program."
The work covers domains such as complex networks, cybersecurity, healthcare, C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance), finance and independent verification and validation. Key modeling and simulation areas for research and development include:
- War games, scenario design, experimentation and execution
- Constructive simulation development
- Human performance modeling
- Serious games development.
Modeling and simulation has been at the core of TASC's capabilities portfolio since its founding in 1966. Earliest programs include the Trident Submarine, Minuteman Missile and the Space Shuttle. Today, a large portion of TASC's modeling and simulation projects and research investments are geared toward improving models in networks, sensor platforms, human behavior and decision support.
