TastingRoom.com Introduces the First Ever Luxury Wines by the Glass With Silver Oak
Wine Lovers Can Now Enjoy Single Servings of the Finest Wines in Their Homes
SAN FRANCISCO, March 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, TastingRoom.com, the innovative online retailer, is unveiling a brand new category for wine lovers: fine Wines by the Glass. Silver Oak, a Napa Valley winery and maker of some of the world's most beloved Cabernet Sauvignons, will be the first brand offered at the time of launch. Wine novices and aficionados alike are now just one click away from having luxury wines by the glass—just like they would enjoy at a high-end restaurant—delivered straight to their home. "2007 Silver Oak Napa Cabernet Sauvignon by the Glass" will be sold exclusively and for a limited time on TastingRoom.com's e-commerce website retailing at $19 for a single glass and $70 for a set of four glasses.
As consumer demand for luxury glasses of wine increases, more restaurants are offering high-end wines by the glass as opposed to only selling bottles. A study conducted in April 2011 by Ink Foundry, a full service marketing agency specializing in food and wine, discovered that at many restaurants, wines by the glass volume is accounting for 50 percent of total wine sales, which is a significant increase over past years. Rather than continuing to search for an inexpensive bottle of wine, consumers are ordering a better wine by the glass. Now TastingRoom.com is allowing wine lovers the same luxury in their homes. Instead of buying full bottles, customers can purchase single servings of some of the world's best wines.
"Our wines by the glass are served in 100ml (3.4 ounces) glass bottles that are exact replicas of the original full-size bottle," said TastingRoom.com CEO Tim Bucher. "The unique format of 'by the glass' will create new opportunities for wine connoisseurs to enjoy high-quality wine at home. I am thrilled to launch this new offering with one of the greatest wineries in the industry -- Silver Oak -- and continue the program with more luxury wine labels in the coming months."
"As Silver Oak celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2012, it remains one of America's most requested wines at restaurants year after year," said David Duncan, CEO of Silver Oak. "We're excited to commemorate four decades by offering our customers a by the glass option to enjoy our anniversary wine, and we believe that a partnership with TastingRoom.com is the best, highest-quality way to deliver that to our customers."
"Consumers want to enjoy quality wine without necessarily opening an entire bottle. Our innovative product allows consumers to drink luxury and premium wines exactly how they want, when they want, wherever they want," said Bucher.
In addition to the current Silver Oak Wines by the Glass line, TastingRoom.com, the e-commerce retailer that brought you wine samplers curated by Chefs Michael Chiarello and Mario Batali (Mario Batali Selection), will offer more luxury and premium Wines by the Glass brands this spring.
