Tata Consultancy Services Wins Ohio's Investing in People Award

CINCINNATI, Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) (BSE: TCS.BO, NSE: TCS.NS), the leading IT services, business solutions and outsourcing firm, today announced that the Workforce One Investment Board of Southwest Ohio (WOIB) selected TCS as one of six 2010 Investing in People Awards recipients for its goIT initiative, which aims to ignite interest in IT careers among local high school students. Also noted was TCS's commitment to continued learning and development opportunities for its employees.  

Workforce One is a regional organization made up of leaders from business, education, labor and government, with the majority of its board members representing the private business sector. Their mission is to provide an educated and qualified workforce that meets the current and future needs of employers.

With a total of more than 400 employees at the Seven Hills Park office in Milford, OH, TCS actively supports the community on a national, regional, and local level. In the last 15 months, TCS has hired more than 300 new local employees at their Seven Hills Park office of which 220 are recent U.S. College graduate hires.

The TCS student technology awareness program goIT, began in Milford, OH with plans to expand into other U.S. cities. The goIT program provides students with in-school IT career & awareness workshops, and a three-day hands-on IT summer camp aimed at fostering interest in IT careers. Students work with the latest technologies, gain exposure to a global IT environment, and work with programmable robots. Participation is free to all students.

TCS is also a supporter of the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio.  Partnering with the Columbus Center of Science and Industries (COSI), TCS brings exhibits and hands-on activities from the COSI Museum in Columbus Ohio to rural schools in Ohio's southern Applachian counties through its COSI on Wheels program.  This enables students who would not have had the opportunity to visit the museum a chance to experience the exhibits first-hand.  

Additionally, to promote education and financial responsibility among students in Ohio's Appalachian counties, TCS sponsors an essay contest offering scholarship opportunities to the winning applicants.

Clermont County Commission President, Bob Proud, presented the Investing in People Award to Amar Naga, Head of TCS' Seven Hills Park Facility in Milford, OH during a ceremony on Wednesday, September 8.
