TCBY Says Go Greek for the Health of It
Launches Greek Challenge on Facebook
SALT LAKE CITY, March 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- TCBY, The Country's Best Yogurt and frozen yogurt pioneer, today announced the launch of the TCBY "Greek Challenge," a Facebook contest designed to encourage consumers to incorporate into their diets the company's first to market Greek frozen yogurt, which exceeds the nutritionals of its industry-leading Super Fro-Yo. Participants who take on the Challenge are eligible for a chance to win a trip for two to Athens, Greece along with other great prizes including $100 Amazon gift cards and $20 TCBY gift cards. Pre-registration for the Greek Frozen Yogurt Challenge starts today, March 22 with the eight week challenge running from April 5 to May 31, 2012.
To enter for a chance to win the trip to Greece or the Amazon or TCBY gift cards, fans must sign up on TCBY's Facebook page or through its website. The company will also host separate giveaways for social network participation to award fans with free TCBY. As part of the Greek Challenge, TCBY encourages fans to replace one meal a week with TCBY Greek frozen yogurt, which launches on April 5.
"We have such an engaging fan base on Facebook, and their excitement for Greek frozen yogurt is contagious," says Tim Casey, CEO of TCBY. "We want to reward that enthusiasm on Facebook and beyond with a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience Greece and all it's history and beauty.
Adds Casey, "Our entry into the Greek Yogurt segment is well timed as more consumers continue to adopt Greek yogurt into their diets. So we feel the 'Challenge' is a natural expression of that enthusiasm, especially given the frozen yogurt nature of our product."
According to SymphonyIRI, Greek Yogurt accounted for 20 percent of total yogurt sales last year. In each of the last three years, sales of Greek yogurt increased 100 percent each year, while non-Greek yogurt has grown at a single digit pace, notes consumer data tracker, Nielsen.
"We have worked diligently to provide our customers with healthy, nutritious and great tasting frozen yogurt, and we continue that tradition with Greek frozen yogurt," notes Casey.
Pre-registration for the contest begins on March 22, 2012. The contest giveaway period begins on April 5 and lasts through May 31, 2012. Following the contest, one lucky winner will be chosen at random to receive a trip for two to stay at the Arion Resort and Spa in Athens, Greece for six days/five nights. In addition, TCBY will also award a $100 Amazon gift card to one Facebook enthusiast every Friday beginning April 6. TCBY also urges Facebook fans and Twitter followers to get involved with the brand via social networking for a chance to win a multitude of $20 TCBY gift Cards. Fans and followers can tag TCBY in their status update, share the TCBY fan page, mention @TCBY and/or #tcbygreek in a Tweet or reTweet the brand for a chance to win a TCBY gift card.
