TDS Founder LeRoy T. Carlson To Be Inducted Into Junior Achievement's Chicago Business Hall Of Fame
CHICAGO, Sept. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Telephone and Data Systems, Inc. (NYSE: TDS) today announced that its founder and chairman emeritus, LeRoy T. Carlson , will be inducted into Junior Achievement's Chicago Business Hall of Fame on Sept. 27 at the Chicago History Museum.
Carlson, age 96, founded TDS in 1969. Initially comprised of 10 rural telephone companies, TDS had nearly $5.2 billion in total operating revenues for the full year 2011. In 1983, Carlson founded TDS subsidiary U.S. Cellular (NYSE: USM), now the seventh-largest wireless carrier in the nation. Carlson was CEO of TDS until 1986, and chairman until 2002.

Carlson will be inducted into the Chicago Business Hall of Fame along with fellow Laureates Deborah L.
