CANTON, Ga., June 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Carmen O'Quinn started the Beachbody Program using P90X a little over one year ago. Within 13 months using the Beachbody system she lost 161 lbs. and 18 dress sizes, earning her a finalists position in the Beachbody Challenge. The Beachbody Challenge is designed to provide rewards for people who maintain their commitment to health and weight loss by giving tangible monetary and physical incentives for those who stick with the program and show extreme results. Contestants who submit their success story and transformation photos can win cash prizes of $500 daily to the $100,000 Grand Prize. The Grand Prize will be awarded in July 2016 with an additional $25,000 up for grabs for those contestants who used Shakeology, Ultimate Reset, or other Beachbody Supplements. O'Quinn is one of 8 contestants (4 women, 4 men) who are in the finalist category, and her family cannot be prouder—especially her husband, Jackie O'Quinn, who was the person who turned her onto the P90x program.
"No one deserves this more than Carmen," says Jackie O'Quinn. "She kicked butt the whole way through this program, outdoing me and really being a role model and example for our children. Even if she doesn't win the Grand Prize, she's been a real winner and inspiration for our family."
O'Quinn is a mother of two and cites her children as the major motivator for her weight loss. After reading about childhood obesity and all the related health problems, she realized that she needed to not only set an example that they could live by but also to be there for them as they matured in life. At 288 lbs she was morbidly obese and something had to change. Because the P90x program allows for modifications she found that it was easier to jump into the program and keep going. After losing 42 lbs in her first round she had the incentive to keep it up and over the course of 202 days she had lost a full 100 lbs. Her dedication and commitment is why she is a finalist for the Grand Prize and has -to date- won $31,000 from Beachbody. When asked what she would do if she won the $100,000 O'Quinn has stated that she intends to tithe 10% of the grand prize among two charities.
