MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, Teamsters Joint Council 32 announced its endorsement of Jacob Frey for the Minneapolis mayoral race. Frey, a progressive and pro-labor Minneapolis City Council member, brings a fresh perspective to Minneapolis politics and has chartered extensive change in his current council ward.
Frey is running on a platform of issues that include strengthening our communities by advocating for affordable housing, creating safe, diverse neighborhoods, and fostering good family sustaining jobs.
"Jacob Frey understands the challenges working families face every day and will fight for the issues that are important to the thousands of active and retired Teamsters in the city of Minneapolis," said Lawrence Yoswa, President of Teamsters Joint Council 32. "We will put boots on the ground and knuckles on the doors to do all we can to help Jacob."
"Some people seem to just talk about the disparity of wages for communities of color. Jacob is a civil rights attorney and we are confident that he will build strong relationships to put processes in motion to eradicate this disgusting and embarrassing statistic," said Edward Reynoso, Political Director of Teamsters Joint Council 32.
"The Teamsters Union represents factory, warehouse, trucking, public employees, and many other professions that provide livable wages for workers and their families. I'm honored to have their support, and look forward to partnering with them in making a better Minneapolis," said council member Jacob Frey.
Teamsters Joint Council 32 is the umbrella organization of 13 local unions which represent in excess of 62,000 active and retired members in the state of Minnesota.
