Telecom Executive Receives Major Statewide Recognition
Award celebrates distinguished service to consumers and telephone industry
HERSHEY, Pa., July 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Last evening, the Pennsylvania Telephone Association (PTA) honored Marshall (Pete) McClure of Mansfield, for his outstanding contributions to the telecommunications industry, the Association, and the customers he serves.
Mr. McClure is the vice president and general manager at North Penn Telephone Company. His involvement with the PTA began more than 30 years ago, and he has been a member of the PTA Board of Directors for several years serving as chairman for the last two years. He received the award at a ceremony following PTA's annual banquet as part of PTA's 110th Annual Convention being held July 16-18 at The Hotel Hershey in Hershey, PA.
Serving on the Engineering Committee and several other committees at PTA before becoming a member of the Board of Directors, Mr. McClure continues his support of PTA through participation at the PTA Small Company Committee meetings, the Fall and Spring Conferences and the Annual Convention.

Mr. McClure began his career in the telecommunication industry in 1969, as a Construction Lineman. He moved through the ranks as an Installer & Repair Technician and then as a Central Office (CO) Technician. He became CO Supervisor in 1979 and CO Engineer in 1980. In 2000 he was promoted to Vice President of North Penn Telephone Company and currently serves in that capacity along with being the General Manager.
Mr. McClure has spent his entire life living in the Borough of Roseville where he served on the Borough Council for more than 25 years including being President of the Borough. He is a past president and lifetime member of the Northeast Area Telephone Pioneers. He is currently an Officer and a Board Member of the Penn York Chapter of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers.
Distinguished service awards were inaugurated in 2002, during the Association's 100th anniversary year, to honor those pioneers who have helped pave the way to make PTA Member Companies a key contributor to the state's communications infrastructure.
