Telecom Industry Leaders Select Wireless Expressways, Inc. as Featured Exhibitor in Innovation Showcase of CTIA 2013
Leading provider of in-building waveguide-based wireless distribution systems is one of 22 finalists at Las Vegas conference
SAN ANTONIO, April 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Wireless Expressways, Inc., (WE) the leading provider of in-building waveguide-based wireless distribution systems, announced today that it has been selected as a featured exhibitor in the Innovation Showcase sponsored by The Telecom Council of Silicon Valley in this year's CTIA 2013 show in Las Vegas.
WE was one of 22 finalists selected out of 100's of applicants by judges from leading companies in the telecomm industry, including AT&T, Juniper, Cisco, Qualcomm, Sprint, Marvell, Verizon and others. The Telecom Council's selection criteria for the award were based on company innovation, momentum, viability, and management.
"CTIA conferences highlight communications technologies that are relevant to the fast-paced evolution of the wireless market," said Charles Becker, President of WE. "A current major concern in the industry is the increasing carrier-endorsed off-loading of cell data communications to indoor private Wi-Fi networks. WE's waveguide systems are designed to provide highly efficient, cost-effective and high QOS communications coverage in indoor facilities to satisfy this growing demand.
"Also," Becker adds, "as Wi-Fi spectrum becomes increasingly crowded with more users, waveguide-based distribution systems make more sense by controlling the areas that AP signals are allowed to illuminate, while rejecting interfering signals from external sources. We believe our approach is a first step in limiting interference among users of popular Wi-Fi bands."
WE systems have already proven they are extremely efficient in warehouse applications after showing that many tens of thousands of square feet of multi-aisle facilities can be completely covered with high-level ubiquitous signals at 2.4GHz from a single access point. Multiple channels of 2.4GHz or 5GHz data and/or voice traffic can be combined onto a waveguide system at the time of installation, or added later when higher traffic demands more total bandwidth.
All of WE's current products are totally passive, require no power from a/c mains, satisfying "green" building objectives. They are also designed to meet fire safety regulations for equipment that occupies HVAC plenum spaces. Any commercial grade access point with external antenna connectors can be used to drive the system.
Because far fewer access points are needed in a WE wireless network, the number of wireless controller ports and WLAN controllers (and software licenses) can be greatly reduced, or eliminated, yielding significant CAPEX and maintenance savings. Design of a WE system is "by the numbers", not guesswork.
The company is now turning its attention to waveguide-based solutions for 5GHz 802.11n and 802.11ac. WE's waveguide-based products for these IEEE standards will be announced at the CTIA 2013 conference and displayed in their E-Tech Showcase.
