ANNAPOLIS, Md., Feb. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ: TSYS), a world leader in highly reliable and secure mobile communication technology, today announced that the World Teleport Association (WTA), a leading organization that focuses on the business of satellite communications from the ground up, has recently named TCS to all three of its prominent lists for the sixth consecutive year. Rankings are reported in three categories: the Fast Twenty, Independent Top Twenty, and the Global Top Twenty. These rankings offer a unique look into the diverse teleport sector of the global communications industry and are the only independently compiled rankings of teleport-operating companies.
- TCS ranked third on the "Fast Twenty" list, advancing from fifth position in 2012. This list ranks all teleport-operating companies based on year-over-year revenue growth in their most recent fiscal years.
- TCS ranked third on the "Independent Top Twenty" list, moving up from sixth position in 2012. This list ranks companies based on total revenue from all sources, but excludes companies whose core business is ownership and operation of a satellite fleet or terrestrial network.
- TCS ranked 10th on the "Global Top Twenty" list, advancing from 15th position in 2012. This list ranks companies based on revenues from all customized communications sources and includes operators of teleports, satellite fleets and fiber networks.
