TeleTracking's Consulting Division Adds Two Patient Flow Experts Will Help Hospitals Increase Efficiency
PITTSBURGH, Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The Avanti Division of TeleTracking Technologies today announced the addition of Cheryl Pereira, RN, BSN, MSN, MBA and Gary D. Shaw, RN, BSN, as patient flow consulting specialists.
Both bring extensive patient flow experience to their new positions with Avanti, TeleTracking's consulting division, which helps hospitals and health systems implement or improve patient logistics through a combination of strategic change and process excellence across disciplines and functions.
Lisa Romano, TeleTracking Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, said the pair "demonstrated a great understanding of the principles of patient flow and tremendous innovation in solving the problems of their respective hospitals."
Pereira most recently served as an Administrative Supervisor at Montgomery General Hospital and as an emergency department nurse at 900-bed Washington Hospital Center (WHC), a Level One trauma center in the District of Columbia. Shaw was Clinical Manager of Bed Management at WHC before joining TeleTracking.
Pereira's ability to analyze workflow and develop effective performance improvement strategies has been evident throughout her nursing career. She has coordinated the clinical and administrative operations both at the departmental and hospital level and participated in continuing efforts to streamline care delivery. She also has experience in physician practice management, human resources and critical care nursing.
Shaw provided innovative leadership in patient throughput initiatives at WHC, where he also implemented standardized objective measurements for accountability across departmental service lines. Earlier in his career, he was clinical administrator at the 700-bed Virginia Commonwealth University VCU Medical Center, a Level One trauma center in Richmond, VA.
They join the most experienced team of nurses and nurse executives in the patient flow automation industry, including Avanti Managing Director Joy Avery, RN, MSN, CEN; Michele Lerch, RN, CCRN, FACHE; Mark Sanders, RN, BSN; Donna Butz, RN, MS. All bring client-side experience as early adopters and problem-solvers with a history of successfully combining process re-design with automation technology.
Avanti Consulting helps hospitals and health systems implement or improve patient logistics through a combination of strategic change and process excellence across disciplines and functions, using the principles of Lean Management as a general guideline to create an optimal patient pathway from admission to discharge. This may include organizational restructuring, such as the establishment of a central transport department, a transfer center or a patient logistics command center. All Avanti specialists have directed patient flow redesign programs which integrated technology and process.
Since its beginning, TeleTracking patient flow automation has been converting time into space to help hospitals better utilize their existing capacity. We were first to define patient flow as a continuum, rather than random actions, and have continually analyzed that continuum to better understand its components. As a result, we've grown from a single bed management application to an entire suite of solutions which address virtually every point identified thus far along that continuum. Our full complement of solutions now addresses patient throughput and overcrowding, asset management, and inter-hospital patient transfer.
