Tequila Avion Reigns Supreme as the World's Greatest for National Margarita Day Award-Winning Tequila Key Ingredient in Winning Cocktail at Annual World Margarita Championship
NEW YORK, Feb. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Today marks that majestic day that celebrates one of America's favorite drinks – the margarita! According to Reuters.com, the U.S. is actually the world's largest tequila market and this year, Tequila Avion invites consumers to toast with the best. The Avion Tamarindo Margarita was recently crowned the World's Greatest Margarita at the Sixth Annual World Margarita Championship held in Tucson, AZ. The recognition for the brand is one more in a long line of accolades since its debut in 2010, most notably three medals including Double Gold at The San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
A panel of renowned judges including legendary mixologist Dale DeGroff, Meredith May (Publisher of The Tasting Panel), Robert Plotkin (author and spirits authority) and Jennifer English (culinary expert) carefully judged countless margaritas, ultimately anointing the Avion Tamarindo Margarita, created by Gustavo del Toro of Tucson, Arizona's La Fuente Mexican Restaurant, as the World's Greatest Margarita.
Avion's smooth flavor profile has drawn praise from consumers and mixologists alike, as well as driven unprecedented demand for the brand, accelerating its growth from two markets in 2010 to 48 states and parts of Canada at present.
"We couldn't be more pleased knowing that Avion makes the World's Greatest Margarita," commented Ken Austin, founder of Tequila Avion. "It's especially meaningful because I set out to create the smoothest, most delicious ultra-premium tequila in the world and this recognition, along with many others since our launch, continues to validate the fact that we've hit the mark."
The World Margarita Championship, the only event of its kind, featured celebrated mixologists from both Mexico and the U.S competing for top honors.
