Texas Credit Union Foundation Donates $5k for Hurricane Relief Efforts
FARMERS BRANCH, Texas, Oct. 31, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Texas Credit Union Foundation (TCUF) Board of Trustees has approved a grant of $5,000 for hurricane relief efforts. The National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) has activated the online disaster relief system, CUAid.coop, to raise money for credit union people along the East Coast affected by Hurricane Sandy.
"When Hurricanes Ike and Rita struck Southeast Texas, the credit union movement came to our aid. The support we received from credit unions across the country allowed us to respond to the immediate needs of credit union employees affected by the devastating hurricanes," recalls TCUF Executive Director Courtney Moran. "That is one of the many wonderful things about the credit union movement – we are a family that helps and supports one another in good times and in bad."
Credit union supporters in every state can now make donations at www.cuaid.coop. CUAid is the only program of its kind that enables credit union employees, volunteers, and members, as well as credit unions and credit union organizations across the U.S., to contribute directly to support other credit union people.
CUAid was developed by NCUF in cooperation with state credit union foundations, state credit union leagues, and the Credit Union National Association's Disaster Preparedness Committee in 2006.
