The 18th Annual Fleet Week Coronado Speed Festival Starts on September 19
URGENT--MEDIA CREDENTIAL DEADLINE APPROACHING
SAN DIEGO, Sept. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The time is now to fill out the forms for your media credential for this year's "Race at the Base," the 18th Annual Fleet Week Coronado Speed Festival. The media credential application is now available online on the Fleet Week San Diego website under MEDIA.

- 250 prestigious historic racecars divided into nine different race groups by make, age and horsepower race at high speed on a spectator-friendly 1.7-mile course constructed on the runways of Naval Air Station North Island.
- Military Pit Crew Challenge – 20+ teams of 10 active-duty sailors and marines timed as they recreate an actual historic stock car pit stop.
- Event Marque – The Big Boys are back! The hard-fought Trans-AM race series of the late sixties and early seventies is recreated by Historic Trans-AM enthusiasts.
- Ride & Drive – Test-drive high-performance vehicles from BMW and Jaguar.
- Navy Open House – Naval Base Coronado is home to over 20,000 active duty military and over 4,000 civilian employees. This is the public's opportunity to climb aboard active Navy ships berthed at NASNI, visit command displays, watch flyovers and see military vehicles in action.
- Military Displays – A multitude of helicopters, special boats and hovercraft will be on display, with pilots eager to answer questions and show you the craft.

- Red Bull Endurocross Rider – Geoff Aaron, an X Games regular, is making his eighth appearance in Austin 2015 and his first at Fleet Week Coronado Speed Festival!
- Fast & Furious 7 - The event has been selected as the official launch site of the release of Fast & Furious 7 on DVD. Cars from the movie will be at the event throughout the weekend for attendees to see and interact with, and representatives will be giving away movie merchandise.
- Open paddock – Allows fans to walk right up to the cars and interact with the drivers and crew.
- Car club exhibit featuring more than 1,200 vintage cars.
WHEN: Saturday – Sunday, September 19-20, 2015
WHERE: Naval Air Station North Island, Coronado, CA
COST: $25 one day and $35 for both days, in advance.
Tickets will also be available at the venue ($35 one day and $45 for both days). Children 12 and under are FREE with paid adult admission. Active duty military and their direct dependents are FREE with ID.
