BADEN, Pa., Feb. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Marsala, Pantone's Color of the Year, was the inspiration of Pasquale Caselle, IT&LY Hairfashion NA's Creative & Color Director for our hot, new Marsala Collection. Sultry yet subtle, Marsala will become a great "go-to" color for brunettes. Marsala's naturally robust, earthy wine, red brown tone is flattering against many skin tones. A great color option, for hair, lips or nails.
IT&LY's premium haircolor lines, COLORLY 2020 and AQUAR&LY, are perfectly suited for creating the deliciously warm, tawny red brown Marsala shades. "What I love about using Marsala for hair color inspiration is that you can go from subtle to a more dramatic look depending on your client's personality and preference. I love that any age can carry off the Marsala look," says Pasquale.
The first in our series of 3 beautiful, rich "Marsala looks" was created by allowing subtle, golden caramel pieces to peek through and pair with the deep Marsala base. Pasquale framed the face with foil slides and staggered the pieces for a "freeflow" asymmetrical look, then he added few random slides in the back to create a few peek-a-boo pieces. A base color of AQUAR&LY 4M Mahogany + 6T Titian was combined to result in a unique rich, deep Marsala. The hair was lightened to a caramel gold, shampooed and misted with Equalizer and toned with Light+Passion by combining Golden Blond and Cappuccino. To complete the look, the hair was finished with Purity Design Pure Water Drops and Purity Design Spray.
The second earthy "Marsala look" was created by using COLORLY 5RD. By misting with Equalizer, Pasquale could ensure an even color from root-to-tip. While the color was still on the hair, Blondly Lightening Cream was mixed then painted on random pieces. Each side was kept even and allowed to slightly lift to create dimension and ribbons of lighter pieces without significant contrast. The hair was washed and conditioned with Classic ACP and finally styled with Purity Design.
The final "Marsala look" was an easy 2-step color. A mix of AQUAR&LY 5RI with Creme Emulsion 20 was used from the crown to the front hairline. Next, a mix of 6RI and volume 30 was used for the crown to the back of the head. Each formula was applied to the corresponding section (5RI to front, 6RI to back). In this case, it was virgin hair so Pasquale did a root-to-end of the length of hair application. After processing for 30 minutes, the hair was washed and conditioned with ACP, then styled with Purity Design. The end result is a 2-tone, subtle and gradual variation of Marsala hues that capture the light and take on a unique look in different lighting.
