The American Club Garners AAA Five-Diamond Award for 29th Consecutive Year
Association also bestows Four-Diamond status on the Immigrant Restaurant
KOHLER, Wis., Jan. 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Automobile Association has once again selected The American Club to receive its most exclusive Five-Diamond rating. This is the 29th year The American Club has been honored with this award and it remains the only resort-hotel in the Midwest to receive such a distinction. Described by AAA as its highest award, Five-Diamonds signify "the ultimate in luxury and sophistication," and hotels which have "impeccable standards of excellence." One of two resorts in the Kohler Co. Global Hospitality Group, The American Club offers world renowned championship golf courses, spa and culinary experiences.
"It is always an honor to be awarded the Five-Diamond status, and even though we've received it for 29 years, it is an accolade we never take for granted," said Michael Belot, General Manager of Destination Kohler. "It is gratifying for us to know that we consistently meet the high standards they set for this award."
Originally a temporary home for immigrants who worked in the Kohler factory, The American Club was redesigned in 1981 as an elegant resort hotel, and today it is considered one of the finest in the country. The grand Tutor-style building houses elegant guest rooms that have been renovated using revitalizing KOHLER plumbing products, Ann Sacks artistic tile, and sophisticated furnishings from McGuire and Baker – all companies that are members of the Kohler family of businesses.
In addition to its 12 dining options and state-of-the-art conference facility, the resort is also home to the luxurious Kohler Waters Spa. This award-winning spa offers an extensive menu of therapeutic treatments, as well as a relaxation pool and lovely glass-enclosed rooftop deck, all set in a consummately relaxing and tranquil environment. The American Club is also known for award-winning championship golf courses, Whistling Straits and Blackwolf Run, which have hosted two PGA Championships, the U.S. Senior Open, two U.S. Women's Opens and is the future home of the 2015 PGA Championship and 2020 Ryder Cup.
The Immigrant Restaurant was also ranked among the very best, receiving a Four-Diamond rating that AAA describes as "distinctive fine dining," with "a highly creative executive chef, imaginative presentations, and market fresh ingredients." The showcase restaurant of The American Club, The Immigrant Restaurant offers contemporary cuisine served in an elegant, intimate atmosphere. Dining is enjoyed throughout the six rooms that make up the restaurant, each uniquely decorated in the European style of the early Wisconsin settlers: French, Dutch, German, Normandy, Danish and English.
The AAA Diamond ratings started in 1937 as a way to provide accurate travel information to members; today it rates more properties than any other ratings entity. Each year, AAA sends professionally trained inspectors out to conduct unscheduled evaluations and anonymously assess over 59,000 properties. Those properties awarded Five-Diamonds represent less than half of one percent of all hotels visited by these inspectors; an elite club with fewer than 200 members throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. The American Club is one of only eight establishments that has maintained its Five-Diamond rating for over 25 years.
