The ASSE Foundation Awards $227,000 in Scholarships & Professional Educational Grants
DES PLAINES, Ill., April 9, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Society of Safety Engineers Foundation announced it set a new record in 2014 by granting more than $227,000 to 108 students earning occupational, safety and health degrees in universities across the country and safety professionals furthering their credentials.
The ASSE Foundation receives contributions from corporations, individual members, family of ASSE members, and ASSE Chapters and Regions motivated to support the occupational, safety and health profession. The Foundation Scholarship & Grant program grew by 8 percent in 2013.
"We cannot provide these types of grants and scholarships without donor engagement," said ASSE Foundation Board Chair Fay F. Feeney. "They love our programs and what the Foundation does. With their help, we were able to add 10 new awards this year."
The awards, which range in amounts from $1,000 to $6,000, offer students and professionals the support to advance their education. Scholarship applications are open to students earning OSH degrees with a 3.0 or higher GPA and at least 60 hours of safety-related coursework completed. Grant applications are open to anyone seeking additional professional education in the safety field.
