The Athens Greece Prosecutor Has Confirmed a Criminal Libel Complaint Against Mark D. Wallace and the Non-Governmental Organization, United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI)
WASHINGTON, July 17, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, Six Degrees - a Project of Capitol Allies - learned that The Office of the Athens District Attorney in Greece has confirmed receipt of a criminal complaint for libel, and other criminal offenses, against a former Ambassador to the United Nations, MARK D. WALLACE, and the non-government organization, UNITED AGAINST NUCLEAR IRAN (UANI). Under the Greek Criminal Code, libel is a criminal offense punishable by imprisonment.
The Criminal Complaint filed by Enterprises Shipping and Trading Company SA, Golden Energy Marine Corporation and Victor Restis alleges that Mark Wallace and UANI committed criminal activities by widely publishing "letters, claims and publications" that falsely state that Mr. Restis and his companies, First Business Bank and Enterprises Shipping and Trading SA, "are front-men for the illicit activities of the Iranian regime" and that Mr. Restis has provided "unethical - indeed illegal - support to the Iranian MoP [Ministry of Petroleum] and its affiliate, NITC [National Iranian Tanker Company]."
The Athens District Attorney's Office has issued a Certificate confirming that it has examined the criminal complaint against Wallace and UANI and has forwarded the criminal complaint and related case materials to the Athens Magistrate Court to conduct an investigation.
