The Best of the Best Online Marketing Masters Programs Ranked by Best Marketing Degrees
NEW ORLEANS, June 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- BestMarketingDegrees.org, a site established to provide research and insight into current marketing education, published a ranking of the 20 best marketing masters degrees online (http://www.bestmarketingdegrees.org/top-online-masters-of-marketing-degrees/). Though largely masters in marketing degrees, several ranked programs also included masters in business administration that focus on marketing.
The University of Saint Mary (Leavenworth, Kansas), American InterContinental University (Schaumburg, Illinois), and the University of Massachusetts Online lead the ranking in places one through three respectively. The ranking was compiled by taking a comprehensive listing of online marketing degrees and ranking programs based on three criteria:
--affordability (1/3): the estimated cost per credit hour for out-of-state students
--program efficiency (1/3): a measure of the lowest time required to complete the degree
--core course content (1/3): coursework in the following areas
--marketing management
--digital marketing
--marketing analytics
--product development
Other ranking programs include (in alphabetical order):
Bellevue University (Bellevue, Nebraska)
Brandman University (Irvine, California)
California Coast University (Santa Ana, California)
Colorado Technical University (Colorado Springs, Colorado)
Columbia Southern University (Orange Beach, Alabama)
Concordia University Nebraska (Seward, Nebraska)
Ellis University (Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois)
Lasell College (Newton, Massachusetts)
Marist College (Poughkeepsie, New York)
Northwestern University (Evanston, Illinois)
Post University (Waterbury, Connecticut)
Regis University (Denver, Colorado)
St. Bonaventure University (Allegany, New York)
Saint Leo University (Saint Leo, Florida)
University of Maryland University College (Adelphi, Maryland)
Walsh University (North Canton, Ohio)
West Virginia University (Morgantown, West Virginia)
Notable trends include super accelerated masters programs (taking less than one year for completion) from the top two entries. Notably, the top pairing also complete at least 3/4 core content areas. While several included programs that only cover 1-2 of the core content areas, a majority of these programs are masters in business administration degrees with marketing emphases. For the right student, these programs could be particularly good "fits" allowing for gained experience not only in valuable marketing skills but also in more general business expertise.
"While a number of schools who--in the grand scheme of things-- were less established excelled according to the metrics of our ranking, newcomers have often been the educational entities who can provide up-to-date career-centered learning opportunities," notes Josh Jackson, lead researcher for the piece. "Where the most traditionally prestigious universities are set in their ways and bolstered from industry changes, newer schools often have hands on experience with weathering economic winds. Just the thing you want for a field as rapidly changing as marketing."
