SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, The Big Data Conference, produced by UBM Tech, released the results of a survey conducted in partnership with Nemertes Research, showing nearly 60% of companies with Big Data initiatives are seeing transformative changes. Furthermore, organizations overwhelmingly perceive value in Big Data investments, and believe they are prepared to leverage Big Data's benefits. These findings will help shape the conference program, which focuses on how to extract business value and capitalize on the boom in Big Data. The Big Data Conference is happening October 22-23 in Chicago's McCormick Place and will be co-located with Cloud Connect Chicago. For more information visit: www.big-data-conference.com.

- 57% have driven substantial strategic shifts with Big Data.
- 80% are bringing existing strategic database vendors (chiefly IBM, Microsoft, and Oracle) forward as strategic partners for Big Data, even though most are also using open source solutions.

"Big Data is far from overhyped," said Johna Till Johnson, President & Founder, Nemertes Research & Conference Co-Chair. "Our research indicates that the majority of organizations consider Big Data initiatives key to their abilities to innovate and drive value. Nemertes is excited to partner with The Big Data Conference to provide a forum in which end-users, vendors, and scientific research organizations can engage with, and learn from, one another. "
Partnering with Nemertes Research, the leading research-advisory and strategic-consulting firm specializing in analyzing and quantifying the business value of emerging technologies, The Big Data Conference will incorporate recent research findings into the conference program to delve deep into the transformational value of Big Data and provide two days of comprehensive content.
