NEW YORK, Nov. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- In honor of November being National Family Caregivers Month, The Bloc is hosting its first Caregivers Speak Up "meet-up" event.
The meet-up will be held Wednesday, November 11, from 7 PM to 9 PM, beginning with a viewing of the original Caregivers Speak Up documentary, which celebrates the hardships and triumphs of caregiving. After the viewing, attendees will have the chance to share their experiences with the people they met through the social media site. The Bloc is also offering an opportunity for caregivers to have their story filmed at their in-house recording studio.
Since its launch in June 2015, the Caregivers Speak Up social platform has gained a large audience, with over 6,700 followers on Facebook and a frequently visited website. Caregivers utilize the network to reach out to each other through comments and messages, but this unique event will bring them together in person.
"We are thrilled to hold our first Caregivers Speak Up meet-up honoring caregivers and their work," Elizabeth Elfenbein, Partner, Creative at The Bloc said. "Our goal is to bring the real and virtual worlds together to foster a community where caregivers are not only heard, but also celebrated. This is the first of what we hope will be many Caregivers Speak Up meet-ups."
