The Chinese Business Lawyers Association Announces New Elections and Major Events
NEW YORK, April 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- For the first time in two and a half years, the Chinese Business Lawyers Association is holding new elections for director positions.
The Chinese Business Lawyers Association (CBLA), the leading non-profit organization devoted to law and business involving the United States and China, is electing new directors and officers.
Geoffrey Sant, a Director of the Chinese Business Lawyers Association comments, "Becoming a Director of the Chinese Business Lawyers Association gave me the opportunity to build my own brand and to arrange public debates and discussions on key legal issues. It certainly helped me to be able to become a partner at a major law firm."
Geoffrey Sant adds, "Today, fewer than ten percent of attorneys at major law firms make partner. In contrast, more than half of the non-partners who became Directors at the Chinese Business Lawyers Association ended up becoming partners. I think acting as a Director lets us expand our network, build our reputation, and influence the legal environment."
Conferences and symposia hosted by the Chinese Business Lawyers Association have featured Second Circuit Judge Denny Chin; multiple judges from the PRC Supreme People's Court; multiple members of the PRC Ministry of Commerce; multiple judges from the Court of International Trade; as well as many other leading figures from business, law, and politics.
The Chinese Business Lawyers Association has co-hosted events at such law schools as Boston College Law School, Brooklyn Law School, Cardozo Law School, Columbia Law School, Fordham Law School, NYU School of Law, St. John's Law School, Tsinghua University, Xiamen University, Yale Law School, and many others.
The Chinese Business Lawyers Association also announces two major upcoming events:
- On April 13, 2016, the Chinese Business Lawyers Association will hold its annual banquet.
The banquet gathers together leading figures at the China practices of major law firms in both the United States and China. The 2016 banquet features honoree and guest speaker Amy Chua, the Yale Law School professor, author of sensational book, "The Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother." Additionally, the Chinese Business Lawyers Association is honoring Zhou Xiaolin of Jun He as the Practitioner of the Year for 2016.
- On May 2, 2016, the Chinese Business Lawyers Association is co-sponsoring an intimate discussion with Delaware Governor Jack Markell.
Governor Jack Markell will engage in a frank discussion of Delaware's business environment, especially as it relates to Chinese businesses.
The Chinese Business Lawyers Association is a non-profit that works with law firms and law schools to hold conferences and discussions on important areas of law and business involving China and the United States.
