The College of St. Scholastica sets plans for its Annual Day of Giving on Thursday, March 23
24 hour online campaign has been increasingly successful in its first four years
DULUTH, Minn., March 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The College of St. Scholastica announced today plans for its fifth annual Give to CSS Day on Thursday, March 23, when supporters from Duluth and around the globe can join in a special 24-hour online initiative to strengthen current programs and enable new opportunities for the benefit of a diverse student population.
St. Scholastica, which is in its 105th academic year, raised more than $100,000 through last year's event and organizers hope to top that this time around.
"In each of the years we have done this we have seen both the number of donors and the amount donated increase," said John Labosky, St. Scholastica's Vice President for College Advancement. "This is a great way for alumni to keep connected to the College by giving what they can to help inspire our current and future students."
The impact of the campaign is doubled by a pool of matching money that St. Scholastica has secured from generous donors, Labosky said.
"This is a grassroots style of fundraising that has been very successful," he said. "We're making the process easy and pain-free. Simply make your online gift in 30 seconds, and it's going to be matched."
With enrollment near 4,400 students, an all-time high for the College, the need for continued support is also elevated. Whether its traditional undergraduate students or graduate students who study online, St. Scholastica is a place where learning and adhering to the Benedictine values of transforming the heart and mind is for everyone.
"Not all of our alumni can visit our campus regularly to see how vibrant it is, but on Give to CSS Day they discover online the many ways their financial support will help the college remain a thriving location for higher learning," said Labosky. "We hear from alumni who are dispersed across the globe who take great pride in being able to support CSS on this special day."
The day of online giving supports everything from classroom equipment to financial aid, to keeping the lights on. Donations large and small are gladly accepted on Give to CSS Day.
"We are very pleased to create this opportunity for our alumni donors and those connected in some way to the college," said Elizabeth Simonson, the College's Executive Director of Development. "A donation on Give to CSS Day may be the difference in whether a perspective student decides to attend here, thus enhancing our school culture with their talents. These donations truly make a difference."
