The Cooperative Exchange Elects New Board Of Directors
National Clearinghouse Association Strengthens its Leadership Role in Promoting the Advancement of Healthcare Industry Electronic Data Exchange
CONCORD, Calif., Oct. 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Cooperative Exchange national clearinghouse association has announced the re-election of Sherry Wilson as Chairman of the Board. Ms. Wilson, Executive Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer of Jopari Solutions, has served as President of the Cooperative Exchange since 2014.

The Association, due to its transition to an Executive Board Structure, declared in its announcement the re-election of its current Executive Committee and addition of two new Directors, at its Annual fall membership meeting in Atlanta, GA.
The re-elected executive committee members who will serve on the Board of Directors for another term are:
- Vice Chair: Joe Bell, Senior Program Manager, Product Strategy for eSolutions, Inc.
- Treasurer: Kathy Sites, Director of Payer Services for Availity, LLC.
- Secretary: Debbi Meisner, Vice President Regulatory Compliance Strategy for Change Healthcare
- Immediate Past President: Joseph Gonzalez, President, Data Path Clinical Exchange Division for Afoundria
Newly elected members of the Board of Directors include:
- Crystal Ewing, Manager-Data Integrity with Zirmed.

Commented Ms. Wilson "The Cooperative Exchange has been a key industry leader in the advocacy efforts to reduce administrative and clinical healthcare cost. Our membership supports over 750,000 provider organizations, maintaining over 8,000 Payer and 1000 plus Health Information Technology vendor connections. Our members process over 4 Billion claims annually with a transaction value exceeding $1.1 Trillion. The Organization's transition to an Executive Board Structure consisting of key industry leaders will further strengthen our advocacy efforts."
Lisa Beard, Executive Director of The Cooperative Exchange, added "We are pleased to welcome our re-elected and new Board members. These individuals bring a wealth of experience and expertise in their fields, and will be tremendous assets to our organization as we further our mission to promote and advance electronic data exchange for the healthcare industry by improving efficiency, advocacy, and education to industry stakeholders and government entities."
"As an example of our advocacy initiatives," continued Ms. Wilson, "The Cooperative Exchange has been instrumental recently in advocating adoption of national electronic attachments standard regulations before the National Committee of Vital Health Statistics (NCVHS). NCVHS is the Congressional appointed statutory public advisory body to the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS)."
HHS adoption of electronic attachments standards is the missing link to achieving the promise of HIPAA administrative simplification in order to reduce cost and further increase efficiency of healthcare delivery in this country. Adoption of electronic attachment standards will provide consistent and uniform use of transactions and enable stakeholders to implement end-to-end automated workflow interoperability.
The automation of attachments is also a critical component required to accommodate business needs in the changing healthcare landscape for attachment applications that electronically deliver the right information to the right person at the right time, expediting delivery of healthcare and improved patient outcomes.
