NEW YORK, Oct. 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Deal, TheStreet's (NASDAQ:TST) institutional business, announced the results of its rankings of the top firms involved in mergers and acquisitions for the first three quarters of 2015 for deal assignments of $100 million or more that involved a U.S. company. The Deal reported that the first nine months of 2015 have set records in terms of deal volume, $1.22 trillion in announced deals, with the majority of volume coming from technology and healthcare transactions.
"Large M&A deals still got done in the third quarter, with tech continuing to lead the way," said Andrew Bulkeley, correspondent at The Deal. "This most likely occurred because companies looked to buy their way into markets or customers they couldn't otherwise reach. This quarter, we reached record levels above $1 trillion, but investors seem to feel a sense that it's slowing."

Only deals involving a change of control at a target company with a market value of $100 million or more are included, and only when a key party involved is a U.S. company. Unless the target is a recognized stand-alone operating business, rankings will not include asset sales, unit sales, sales of subsidiaries, spin-offs or joint ventures. Deals with undisclosed transactions values are not eligible. The Deal's M&A League Tables, which comes out each quarter, are cumulative across the year.
