DETROIT, July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The Dearborn Inn, A Marriott Hotel will be celebrating its 80th birthday next year and to celebrate, they are taking a trip down memory lane to reminisce about the past as they plan for their bright future ahead.

The hotel has already renovated all of their Dearborn hotel rooms and meeting space.  And by the time the hotel's anniversary comes next summer the property will also have a new full service restaurant and lounge, as well as a renovated lobby, both slated for completion by early 2011.

As the story goes, sometime in 1930, Henry Ford was watching travelers arrive at the Ford Airport and realized there was nowhere for passengers to eat or sleep closer than Detroit. So, he commissioned famed architect, Albert Kahn, to design one of the world's first airport hotels. Mr. Ford took an active part in the design of the property which was built on the grounds of the Ford Motor Company, and was even the first person to sign the guest book.

The renovations include thematic designs and artwork showcased throughout the hotel, conveying the history of Henry Ford, the automobile industry, The Dearborn Inn as the world's first airport hotel, and the many iconic figures related to the hotel. These themes are incorporated into the guest room designs, as well as the new eateries opening in early 2011.
