The Detroit Mercantile Co. Owners Robert Jameson and Sherri Lawton Jameson Sell Equity Shares
DETROIT, June 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Detroit Mercantile Co. was founded in 2012 by three local entrepreneurs who share a love of all-things-Detroit and Michigan. Today, two of those founders announced an equity sale to the third. Robert Jameson and wife Sherri Lawton Jameson have sold their interest in the boutique retailer to the third partner, Robert Stanzler.
The Jamesons leveraged their creative and design experience, driving the store to earn recognition and awards for its ambiance while winning customers for its fashionable wearables, collectibles and other Detroit and Michigan made items.
"Sherri and I poured our hearts into The Detroit Mercantile Co. and are very proud of what we accomplished," said Robert Jameson. "We are truly grateful to all of our customers and supporters and gratified to see so many of our designs around town."
Added Sherri Lawton Jameson, "We hope that the store continues to thrive by offering quality products sourced locally. After investing two years in the store's growth, and due to creative and directional differences between owners, it feels like now's the right time for Robert and I to sell our shares and pursue other interests."
The Jamesons suggested that plans are already underway for a next endeavor. "As avid and dedicated supporters, we're excited to continue to promote both Detroit and Michigan. We're as 'Pure Michigan' as they come and are always eager to share our enthusiasm and designs with others."
The Detroit Mercantile Co. is in Detroit's Eastern Market and offers 'Provisions for the Urban Pioneer.' During their tenure, the Jamesons were a driving force in the stores prosperity by finding loyal supporters for its curated collection of new and vintage items, which earned the store recognition as the "Best Local Boutique" and the "Best Place to Find Local Flavor." The store was often mentioned in articles regarding the resurgence of Detroit, including a feature in the New York Times.
The Jamesons will be traveling throughout Michigan over the summer connecting with new prospects and new ideas that celebrate the state. "Its such an exciting time to be invested in Detroit and in Michigan," said Jameson.
