With the goal of compiling an aggregated list of the best steakhouse restaurants, he began this journey in 2001 when he curated a list of the best steakhouses in Chicago with his new website.
The qualifications for steakhouses are specific in order to be included: the establishment must feature USDA Prime Steak or above, such as Wagyu and Kobe beef. If a steakhouse meets the beef criteria, then Lissner researches menus, wine lists, the restaurant's atmosphere, and local and national press. Recently, NYBestSteak.com was also launched featuring the best steakhouses in New York City. Current menus are always live along with as much useful information as possible on both the Chicago and New York City websites.

David Lissner, the five-time Emmy-nominated host of the nation's first half hour program called "Dining Chicago, dedicated his career to showcasing the best restaurants and chefs in Chicago. Beginning in 1987, Lissner quickly became the city's go-to steak expert. With guests like Julia Child and Bocuse d'Or winners and on his program, he broke ground by reporting on the culinary industry.
