"It's a community engagement exhibit to celebrate Broward 100," said Chris Barfield, Curator of Collections for the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society. "We invite the public to peruse the Society's photo archives depicting Fort Lauderdale's most treasured historic moments, get inspired and then create or photograph something from their own life, their own community that represents their inspiration and perspective of the historical photo."
For a chance to have their creation displayed in the Your Take on History exhibit, participants can visit the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society website at http://www.flhc.org/yourtake to select one of 14 images as the inspiration for their creation and then submit a photo of their recreation directly on the Society's website. The submission period is ongoing and members of the public are invited to submit as many images as they would like.
"We're excited to offer the community a way to celebrate Broward County's Centennial and history - we are expecting an excellent turnout," said Barfield.
The photos submitted will be displayed alongside the original photographs in the Lucy Bryan Room of the New River Inn Museum of History, 231 SW 2nd Ave., when the exhibit opens on Tuesday, April 14, 2015.
Participants who submit images by April 6, 2015, will be invited to attend the opening event on April 14, 2015.
