NAPA, Calif., Feb. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Great American Wine Company shipped out to wine aisles across the country this month and arrives with a spirit of commitment to American heroes. The trio of new wines, from the winemaking team at Rosenblum Cellars, launches with a generous annual contribution to military charities to support active troops and veterans. In 2014, the USO will be the primary recipient, and will receive $100,000 donation to support its efforts to provide thousands of programs for US troops and their families worldwide.
The Great American Wine Company offers a Cabernet Sauvignon, a Chardonnay, and a Red Blend and sports vivid vintage "Americana" style labels in warm red, white (cream), and blue. Just in time for "The Games" in Sochi, these wines provide a festive, patriotic way to toast Team USA medals and heroic accomplishments.
Winemaker John Kane is justly proud of this new project. As winemaker for Rosenblum Cellars, overseeing the production of a growing portfolio of wines, John sums up his enthusiasm for The Great American Wine Company in this way; "I wake up with a smile and go to work, knowing that there are no barriers to success. I want these wines to be big, bold and instantly delicious - a celebration in a glass."
Created in a medium bodied style, loaded with bright rich fruit character, these wines are assertive and approachable. The Chardonnay has a round, rich palate with notes of apple pie and white peach. The Red Blend offers a luscious nose of dark cherries and vanilla pie crust, with blueberries and red fruit on the palate. The Cabernet is big and charismatic, with aromas of dark fruit, cigar box, leather and sage, and juicy boysenberry and black cherry flavors with a long finish.
Company wines are made from the ripest grapes sourced from coastal California vineyards. This temperate landscape, the green and gold hills rolling toward the Pacific Ocean, is grape paradise. Cool maritime breezes modify warm, dry days throughout the growing season. The result is excellent fruit with balanced acids and rich, concentrated flavors. The wines are available in stores nationwide and at thewinebar.com, at a suggested retail price of $12.99 per bottle.
